The premiere's opening flashback is Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) remembering how her mom once lost her in a park when she was 5. In addition to the carousel looking like the most terrifying merry-go-round ever (seriously, how fast are those horses going?), we also learn that Meredith basically saved Ellis' life by getting help that day when her mom started to feel sick. Turns out the sickness is actually Ellis going into labor. With Mini Meredith peeking around a corner, Ellis asks that the baby be taken away immediately. And that's how Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) came into this world! E! News has confirmed that the long-running ABC hit medical drama has recast the role of young Ellis Grey for tonight's premiere. The role, previously played by American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson in flashbacks in season six, will now be played by Army Wives star Sally Pressman. So what's the reason for the switcheroo? Actress Sarah Drew, who plays Dr. April Kepner on Rhimes hit show Greys Anatomy, said Rhimes even predicted her second pregnancy. She wrote the pregnancy into the show before I was even pregnant. Shonda knows everything! Drew declared in the October-November issue of Fit Pregnancy. On the show, which returns for its 11th season tonight, Drews character is expecting her first child with onscreen husband Jackson Avery, played by new dad Jesse Williams. But off screen, she is expecting her second in December with husband Peter Lanfer, a professor at UCLA. The pair are already parents to 2-year-old son Micah Emmanuel. They are waiting to find out the sex of their second child. Drew, 33, told Fit Pregnancy shes enjoying her second pregnancy more than the first.
