Mothers of women with PCOS have increased risk of early death

Posted: Published on May 31st, 2014

PUBLIC RELEASE DATE: 29-May-2014 Contact: Emma Mason wordmason@mac.com European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology Mothers of daughters with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have a significantly increased risk of death, particularly if they also have diabetes, when compared to the general population, according to new research. The Dutch study, published online today (Friday) in Human Reproduction [1], one of the world's leading reproductive medicine journals, compared death rates of mothers and fathers of 958 daughters with PCOS, with the general Dutch population. The researchers found that mothers aged over 60 had a risk of death that was one-and-a-half times greater than the general population. When compared with a control group of women with type 2 diabetes from the general population, diabetic mothers of PCOS daughters had a two-fold increased risk of death. "This is the first study to observe this excess risk of death in mothers of patients who have been diagnosed with PCOS, which is the most common hormone-related disease in women of reproductive age," said Dr Yvonne Louwers, the first author of the study and a resident doctor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Erasmus MC University Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. "Our findings justify the … Continue reading

Religion of Thursday, 29 May 2014 Source: Husseini Y. BabalWaiz "And those who have been given Knowledge(scientists) know that that which has been revealed to you from your Lord is the Truth."--- Qur'an chapter 34:6 "Do they not carefully analyze the Quran. If it had been from other than Allah then surely they would have found many discrepancies therein ."--- Qur'an chapter 4:82 In fact one would continue to wonder how on earth atheists have already began infiltrating our highly religious Ghanaian society, dominated by Islamic and Christian belief. [http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=310749&comment=10500929#com], I hurriedly prepared some facts to refute and debunk Graham claims, using the very scientists who he was refereeing to, and who rather confirm the divine missions and prophecies. Please click on this link to pull it out and read it. In this article, he claimed that, "They(believers in God) often claim to validate the supposed message carrier by making tenuous links with writing in existing … Continue reading
