Meanwhile, Callie and Arizona have to decide which one of them will carry their next baby. Is Cristina going to win the Harper-Avery Award?! Its the question thats been on our mind for one whole week and now we find out the answer. Cristina is preparing to travel across the country to Boston, Massachussetts for the Harper-Avery Awards, and Owen wants to go with her. But, in true Cristina fashion, she will not hear a single word of it. Instead, she would rather focus on Owens new haircut. Random! Also, Cristina has not written a speech for the awards. Or at least shes not admitting to writing a speech well see! We already knew that Alex (Justin Chambers) accepted Dr. Buttholes invitation to join him as a partner at his private practice, but he hasnt told anyone about it except for Jo (Camilla Luddington). Greys Anatomy Season 10 Spoilers: Episode 23 And 24 Titles Leaked Online; Song-Based Titles Gives Fans Clues Of …

Posted: Published on April 18th, 2014

We know theres still four episode until the Season 10 finale of Greys Anatomy airs, but cmon -- you cant blame us for seeking out spoilers for the last episode! Especially after the titles for episode 23 and 24 were leaked online. See, unlike House of Cards, which names each episode after a chapter, Greys Anatomy follows a fun pattern of dedicating each episode to a song. The track always correlates with how the episode will play out, which means fans can get a vibe of what to expect just by listening to the corresponding tune. Season 10, Episode 23: Everything I Try to Do, Nothing Seems to Turn Out Right. The episode is named after a single by the indie folk rock band the Decemberists. Besides the name of the song, you can tell the tune has a cold feel to it as you listen to Colin Meloy set a scene of a dark and rainy night. He solemnly sings of his inability to impress a girl despite his efforts. And there's this nagging suspicion that won't leave me alone tonight/It's just that everything I try to do, nothing seems to turn out right. Looks like episode 23 will … Continue reading

JayMac Pharmaceuticals, LLC Recognizes Autism Awareness Month by Releasing Information From Interview on Autism Facts …

Sunset, Louisians (PRWEB) April 18, 2014 Autism has increased 78% in the last decade. There is still a lot to learn about the disorder, and JayMac Pharmaceuticals sat down with noted psychiatrist, Lawrence Ginsberg, MD recently to discuss the topic. Dr. Ginsberg is an international authority in psychiatry and psychopharmacology, and runs a thriving practice, Red Oak Psychiatry, in Houston, TX. Adequate prenatal care is vital; however, addressing the needs of the unique system of the existing autism spectrum individual is also critical. According to Dr. Ginsberg, factors like diet restrictions, absorption issues, and genetic factors-most notably the MTHFR defect-are unique and significant to autism, being major players in decreasing the body's ability to absorb B vitamins. Furthermore, he has found an incidence as high as 90% of the MTHFR defect in his practice in patients with autism spectrum disorders-meaning as much as 70% reduction in their ability to use certain B vitamins. The Autism Society has been in favor of supplements for years, Dr. Ginsberg states, and he finds many parents welcome an alternative to antipsychotics. The right supplement-with all the methylated components-can have a positive impact on the quality of life, helping to manage some associated symptoms and … Continue reading

Beating the clock for ischemic stroke sufferers

Posted: Published on April 18th, 2014

Researchers in Hong Kong have developed a new computer tool to ensure faster care and treatment for stroke patients. A ground-breaking computer technology raises hope for people struck by ischemic stroke, which is a very common kind of stroke accounting for over 80 per cent of overall stroke cases. Developed by research experts at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), this novel application that expertly analyses brain scans could save lives by helping doctors determine if a patient has the life-threatening condition. The CAD stroke technology is capable of detecting signs of stroke from computed tomography (CT) scans. A CT scan uses X-rays to take pictures of the brain in slices. When blood flow to the brain is blocked, an area of the brain turns softer or decreases in density due to insufficient blood flow, pointing to an ischemic stroke. As demonstrated by Dr Fuk-hay Tang from the Department of Health Technology and Informatics at PolyU, CT scans are fed into the CAD stroke computer, which will make sophisticated calculations and comparisons to locate areas suspected of insufficient blood flow. In 10 minutes, scans with highlighted areas of abnormality will come out for doctors' review. Early changes including loss of … Continue reading

Spastic cerebral palsy It is by far the most common type of overall cerebral palsy, occurring in 80% of all cases. People with this type of CP are hypertonic and have what is essentially a neuromuscular mobility impairment (rather than hypotonia or paralysis) stemming from an upper motor neuron lesion in the brain as well as the corticospinal tract or the motor cortex. This damage impairs the ability of some nerve receptors in the spine to properly receive gamma amino butyric acid, leading to hypertonia in the muscles signaled by those damaged nerves. What can mice teach sports about concussions?

LAB PHOTOS BY SIMON BRUTY/THE MMQB BETHESDA, Md. One of the most important recent developments in the treatment of brain traumaand by extension, the future of footballmay have been discovered by a clumsy intern. Theo Rothisa St. Louis-born, Alabama-raised Stanford graduatewho finagled his way into a National Institutes of Health internship in the summer of 2010, after his senior year of high school. Bored after graduation, he appealed to Dr. Dorian McGavern with a personal email and the recommendation of a mentor of his parents, both doctors. McGavern, new at the NIHs suburban Maryland health campus, allowed the 18-year-old to sidestep the pool of more than 10,000 college kids gunning for 1,000 spots and took him on. McGavern and his team were using a new research tool, pioneered in 2007 at New York University, which involved shaving down a small portion of a mouses skull to shine light into the brain and record its processes. McGavern wanted to study how meningitis affected the brain, but his new intern couldnt handle the tiny ballpoint saw without concussing the mice and muddling the results. He was really bad at performing skull-thinning surgery, McGavern says of Roth. Just couldnt get the hang of … Continue reading
