Acute Ischemic Stroke Market (AIS): Analyzed and 2022 Forecasts in New Research Report at RnRMarketResearch.com

Posted: Published on September 21st, 2013

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 Stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is blocked or interrupted, either by blood clots or ruptured blood vessels, depriving the brain of oxygen and nutrients, ultimately leading to the death of brain cells. Stroke is a major cause of death, morbidity, and long-term disability. To forecast the incident and prevalent cases of stroke in the 6MM, Epidemiologists selected studies that used the WHO definition of stroke: rapidly developing clinical signs of focal disturbance of cerebral function, lasting more than 24 hours or leading to death, with no apparent cause other than that of vascular origin. This definition excludes cases of transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), which are neurological deficits lasting less than 24 hours. This report also provides the incident cases of AIS segmented by the TOAST (Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment) criteria subtypes and the proportion of recurrent cases of AIS out of the total cases of AIS (total cases of AIS = incident cases of first-ever AIS + recurrent cases of AIS) in these major markets. Complete report is available @ http://www.rnrmarketresearch.com/epicast-report-acute-ischemic-stroke-epidemiology-forecast-to-2022-market-report.html. Epidemiologists forecast that the incident cases of AIS in the 6MM will increase by 20.10% … Continue reading

Linda Ronstadt on living with Parkinson's disease

Posted: Published on September 21st, 2013

These days, it's hard for Linda Ronstadt to get around without her forearm crutches. The debilitating effects of Parkinson's disease require her to relax for a few minutes before starting an interview. But once she's ready, the 67-year-old singer has full command of her voice, even though she's no longer able to sing. Play Video Ronstadt's voice was one of music's great treasures, anchoring hits like "When Will I Be Loved" and "You're No Good" and hop-scotching across genres including pop, rock, jazz and folk. She's sold more than 30 million albums. While her singing voice has been silenced, she's expressing herself in her memoir, "Simple Dreams." It touches on the many milestones in her career, though more personal matters, like her high-profile romances with Jerry Brown and others, are briefly mentioned or not at all. It also doesn't discuss her Parkinson's diagnosis, which came after the book was written. This week, Ronstadt spoke to The Associated Press about the book and battling the degenerative disease, among other topics. AP: How have you adapted to living with Parkinson's? Ronstadt: I have to ask people to do things for me that are hard. That's been the hardest thing, I think. It's … Continue reading

Male hormone replacement therapy may have heart benefits

Posted: Published on September 21st, 2013

AVENTURA, Fla - Joshua Wapner may look like the picture of health, but his past tells a different story. "At 30, my father had his first heart attack. At 35, he had a triple bypass, second heart attack, and triple-bypass surgery," said Wapner, 36. "He died at age 45, actually on my 17th birthday." Wapner went to Soffer Health with one of the worst family histories that Dr. Ari Soffer said he had ever seen. "On my father's side, there's eight relatives over the past 40 years who all died of heart attacks at young ages, no one going above the age of 53," he said. Wapner underwent a stress test and blood work, which showed he had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and low testosterone. The combination made him a good candidate for hormone replacement therapy, which studies say can be beneficial for the right patients. "If you look at what testosterone does, it's not only for libido. It's also for basic metabolic processes," said Dr. Adam Splaver with Memorial Healthcare. "So if you optimize their metabolism, you can optimize their cardiac function." Studies on patients with advanced congestive heart failure as well as those with chronic stable angina … Continue reading
