Increased Admissions Points to Rising Trend In Seeking Substance Abuse Treatment for The New Year Fort Lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) January 29, 2013 The New Year is traditionally a time for people to seek renewal and make a commitment to improving their health and wellness, said Ben Brafman, chief executive officer and founder of Destination Hope. Many people realize over the holidays that they dont want to live another year under the thumb of addiction and substance abuse. Destination Hope has seen an increase not only in calls to its professionally staffed 24/7 substance abuse treatment information line, but also in individuals and families seeking admissions to the Florida drug rehab center. Typically a small percentage of Americans succeed in maintaining their New Years resolutions, even through February. Those that do succeed, often do so with professional assistance from a health club, doctor or in the case of substance abusers, substance abuse treatment and rehab counselors. Destination Hope has a highly effective drug and alcohol rehab and dual diagnosis treatment program designed around long-term recovery and intimate case management. We believe that people seek out our Florida drug rehab program because they want the best chance to succeed in their recovery … Continue reading

American Drug War – The Last White Hope – Video

Posted: Published on January 30th, 2013

American Drug War - The Last White Hope **Fight Censorship on YouTube** December 2012, marks the 79th anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition in December 1933. Prohibition brought to the United States: an increase in consumption of hard liquor, organized crime taking over legal production and distribution and widespread anger with the federal government. In the Four decades since President Richard Nixon declared the "war on drugs" in 1971, $1 trillion US Dollars have been spent. After spending $1 Trillion dollars on the "war on drugs," the US has the largest prison population in the world, with about 2.3 million behind bars. More than half a million of those people are incarcerated for a drug law violation. About 40000 people were in US jails and prisons for drug crimes in 1980, compared with more than 500000 today. Excessively long prison sentences and locking up people for small drug offenses contribute greatly to this ballooning of the prison population. It also represents racial discrimination and targeting disguised as drug policy. People of color are no more likely to use or sell illegal drugs than white people -- yet from 1980 to 2007, blacks were arrested for drug law violations at rates … Continue reading

Herpes Simplex 2- A "shockingly" simple method to cure Herpes Simplex 2 ? Please click http://www.bruiseeasily.net to learn more about alternate treatments for Herpes Simplex 2 Herpes Simplex 2- What is Herpes Simplex 2 and other categories of the Herpes Virus When people think of "herpes", the first thing that comes to mind is that it is a disease primarily transmitted only through sexual intercourse. This is of course, attributed to the fact that genital herpes is to date- the second most contracted form of herpes in general.(there are many variations to Herpes virus..discussed below..) When a person is diagnosed with Herpes, it is very often that the person will feel somewhat like an outcast- someone that has been shunned as a member of society. And that is a very normal and natural reaction if one has contracted genital herpes- even if the reason that they contracted Herpes Simplex 2 was not a direct result or consequence of their own actions- ie, their own fault. Most people are unaware that there are in fact many variations of Herpes- and that they are not all transmitted by means of sexual intercourse. Herpes can infect people of all ages- they affect newborns … Continue reading

No timeframe to close AFL drugs loophole

Posted: Published on January 30th, 2013

The AFL says it cannot put a timeframe on when it will close a policy loophole that allows its players to take party drugs but avoid being tested. A drugs summit held on Wednesday between the AFL, club chief executives and the AFL Players' Association discussed possible improvements to the code's illicit drugs policy. But it will be left to an annual working party consisting of three club chief executives, AFL medical officers, the AFLPA and medical experts to make recommendations to improve the "three-strikes" policy, including shutting a self-reporting loophole. Players who put their hands up and admit to having used recreational drugs like ice, cocaine and ecstasy can avoid being tested and registering one of their three strikes. Instead they are referred to seek help - and there are concerns some players are abusing the loophole any time they are required to undergo testing. But AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou says the loophole will eventually be closed, though he was unable to say if it could be done in time for the start of the new season. "That's something that can be addressed fairly quickly," Demetriou said. "It is an issue to close that loophole so it doesn't … Continue reading

Whitney Houston's brother Michael admits starting her on drugs

Posted: Published on January 30th, 2013

For years, rumor had it that Bobby Brown had introduced Whitney Houston to drugs but Michael Houston, one of the singer's two older brothers, has revealed to Oprah Winfrey that the real story was quite different. It's a story that has Michael Houston "living, but not alive" since his younger sister's death almost a year ago. "I feel responsible for what I let go so far," he told Oprah in a Monday interview on OWN that primarily featured mother Cissy Houston, who has a new tell-all memoir out. In that book, Cissy says she didn't understand her children doing drugs then, and she doesn't understand it now. Said Michael Houston, "We were always, you know, being together most of the time, and her following behind me -- I taught her to drive. We played together -- everything that you do together as you're growing up -- and then when you get into drugs, you do that together too, and it just got out of hand." Then Oprah presented what she called "the big question": Did he introduce her to drugs? "I would say, yeah, we did everything together, so once I was into that, then she followed suit," he said. … Continue reading

Drugs driving teacher keeps job

Posted: Published on January 30th, 2013

29 January 2013 Last updated at 17:01 ET A teacher caught driving after smoking cannabis will keep his job if he completes a drugs awareness course. Ysgol Gyfun Bryn Tawe teacher Ciaran Lloyd, 29, had been convicted of driving whilst unfit through drugs, and failing to stop following an accident in June 2011. The General Teaching Council for Wales said Mr Lloyd, from Swansea, must pay for the drugs course himself. It accepted he had made a genuine expression of regret over the incident. The professional conduct committee found that the Swansea secondary school design technology teacher's conviction were "relevant offences" to his employment. Panel chairwoman Sheila Drayton said his references were "positive about his character and commitment to teaching". "Following his conviction he was given a one-year probationary period with a provision for drug testing - although drug testing was not carried out," she said. "We accept that he made a genuine expression of regret and shown some insight," she said. The panel heard that it was not an "isolated lapse of judgement" and that Mr Lloyd had admitted using cannabis over a three month period.
