Former DHS Head Gave Warning About Mass Murder Pills – Video

Posted: Published on January 16th, 2013

Former DHS Head Gave Warning About Mass Murder Pills For the first time ever, and for a brief moment in time, two knowledgeable and highly credentialed public figures have commented on the fact that psychiatric medications cause violence and must be considered suspect in the case of the Newtown shooter. But then, as if it never happened, and as if psychiatric drugs could not possibly be implicated in violence, the issue was dropped by the media. Fortunately I happened to be watching television on both CNN and Fox Cable News shortly after the Newton tragedy and I have put the TV clips onto YouTube. The most striking commentary came from Sanjay Gupta, neurosurgeon and famous chief medical correspondent on CNN. On December 18, 2012 at approximately 5:25 pm on CNN, he offered the following remarks: We still don't know much about the shooter who lived in this home. But there is something else to consider: What medications if any he was on? I'm specifically talking about antidepressants. If you look at the studies of other shootings like this that have happened, medications like this were a common factor. Now I want to be clear I'm not saying … Continue reading

DrugRisk Update Reveals Over 5,000 Complaints to FDA of Mirena Dislocation

Posted: Published on January 16th, 2013

The Drug Risk Resource Center is the Webs largest source for information on medical device research, side effects and legal news. Visit http://www.DrugRisk.com New York, NY (PRWEB) January 16, 2013 The goal of DrugRisk is to improve patient safety by informing the public of the latest drug warnings, recalls, studies and litigation news. With Mirena, patients experiencing side effects may not know that others have had similar complications, or that many have now filed claims for their injuries, explains DrugRisk representative Ryan Mayer. The resource center previously advised that, in 2009, the FDA warned Bayer about the marketing of Mirena, which failed to disclose safety risks while claiming the devices could help busy moms with intimacy and make them look and feel great.* Now, DrugRisk has learned that the FDA has received over 45,000 AERS reports of women suffering complications while using the Mirena IUD. Of these, 5079 involved dislocation and 1421 involved migration of the devices, which can perforate or damage the uterine wall.** In more than 6% of cases, patients required hospitalization or surgery. On November 30th, a woman filed a lawsuit against Bayer, the maker of Mirena, claiming she suffered severe injury and had to undergo surgery … Continue reading

Side Effect's of Armstrong's Doping Admission

Posted: Published on January 16th, 2013

After years of denial, cyclist Lance Armstrong admitted to using performance enhancing substances during a taped interview with Oprah Winfrey on Monday night. The side effects of using the drugsreach far beyond Armstrong's damaged career. He's more than just a cyclist.Lance Armstrong's Tour De France wins after battling cancer were an inspiration. But Jeff Wentworth of JB Cycle and Sport has been suspicious for a while now. "To win seven tours, especially after cancer, we kind of thought he might have been enhanced." The news of Armstrong's admission to using performance enhancing substances could be damaging to an aspiring athlete, but House of Speed's trainer Scotty Smith says his young athletes aren't fazed. "I don't think our kids feel that disappointment, because they're growing up in a society where this is part of the norm for them." In fact, just this past year Packers lineman Mike Neal and a handful of otherNFL players have been suspended for using items on theNFL's banned substance list. "Doping" has become so common, that's how Armstrong's supporters defend him. "Since everyone else was doping, they were all on the same playing field. So, he did it not to win but to stay even and … Continue reading

Penn Medicine Study of Breast Cancer Message Boards Finds Frequent Discussion of Drug Side Effects, Discontinuation of …

Posted: Published on January 16th, 2013

PHILADELPHIA In the first study to examine discussion of drug side effects on Internet message boards, researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania found that breast cancer survivors taking the commonly prescribed adjuvant therapy known as aromatase inhibitors (AIs) often detailed in these forums troublesome symptoms resulting from the drugs, and they were apt to report discontinuing the treatment or switching to a different drug in the same class. The findings are published online this week in the journal Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety. With 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States today the largest group of cancer survivors researchers say the findings have broad implications for physician communication with patients about these issues to help to promote proper adherence and inform patient-to-patient discussion online. Both the availability and anonymity provided by message boards and increasingly, other forms of social media such as Twitter and Facebook offer patients a place to voice concerns and connect with an audience of peers in similar situations. This type of social support can be very valuable to patients who are struggling with side effects like joint pain, and may serve as a forum where they will be … Continue reading

Generic Drug Lawsuits: Alabama Supreme Court Rules Brand Name Drug Makers Can Be Sued for Generic Drug Injuries …

Posted: Published on January 16th, 2013

New York, New York (PRWEB) January 15, 2013 An Alabama Supreme Court ruling could pave the way for individuals allegedly injured by generic versions of popular medications such as Fosamax, Accutane, Darvocet and others to pursue generic drugs lawsuits against brand name drug makers, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to The New York Times, in a decision issued on July 11, 2013, the Court ruled that patients taking a generic medication can bring failure to warn claims against the brand name drug manufacturer responsible for the medications label. While the Alabama decision involved a generic version of the drug Reglan, Bernstein Liebhard LLP believes it could have nationwide implications, and pave the way for victims of generic drugs to obtain compensation for their injuries.* (U.S. District Court, Middle District of Alabama,Case No. 1:10-cv-602) Generic versions of medications pose the same risks as their name-brand counterparts. Yet, under the current state of the law, the millions of people who take these medications have had no legal recourse for serious injuries allegedly caused by the drugs, says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. Drug users may not dial 999 in emergencies or give full information to doctors and nurses who treat them because they fear potential criminal prosecution, a report said. The British Medical Association (BMA) said the medical profession does not condone drug-taking but warned of users not seeking medical help when they need it, as they are criminalised in current drugs policy. The report said drugs policy does not have an adequate focus on health, and it called for addicts to be treated like those who have any other illness. Currently, users may be discouraged from approaching drug services, contacting paramedics in emergency situations or volunteering accurate or complete information to health professionals because they fear policies are mainly focused on criminal justice, the BMA said. The report also pointed out "a widely held view within the drugs field that the current legal framework has failed to deliver its intended goals of reducing illicit drug use". And it said doctors should have a key role in "refocusing the debate" and influencing global drug policy. The report concluded drug dependency is a medical condition as well as a legal problem and that alternatives to the current approach to UK drug policy should … Continue reading

Drug Companies Exert Undue Influence over FDA

Posted: Published on January 16th, 2013

Posted by Michael MonheitJanuary 15, 2013 7:35 AM Continued dependence on opioids has left many Americans questioning the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and it's continued failure to take appropriate note and warn consumers about the dangerous and addictive effects of such medication. Although the official stance of the FDA on opioids such as OxyCotin has been that opioid based drugs pose very little potential of addiction, or as per the drugs label, the risks of addiction were reported to be small, the nation continues to battle against an ongoing epidemic with painkiller dependency. With such a high prevalance of addiction, why then would the FDA continue to promote such medication? More than two million have suffered, or continue to suffer, from an addiction to prescription painkillers; making the problem more widespread than cocaine and heroine nationwide. Many of the doctors seem unaware of the potential addictive nature of the drugs and continue to prescribe addictive medication to their patients. The continued support by the medical community appears to stem from the FDA itself, where the panel of doctors who approved the opioid policy had previous financial relationships with Purdue, a known manufacturer of such prescription medication. The influence of … Continue reading
