Neuvitale! StemCellVitamin.net - Neuvitale-Natural Stem Cell Therapy. Stem Cells are responsible for 50% to 70% of your bodies healing and repairing! The more stem cells or "building blocks" we have available, the faster and better our organs can be repaired. Our overall health is strongly influenced by the continued availability of extra stem cells in our bodies. But as we age our natural stem cell count declines. Natural adult stem cells can migrate to damaged tissues and actually become a new heart cell, liver cell, pancreas cell or any type of tissue cell.From:vitastimViews:0 0ratingsTime:06:23More inScience Technology Read the original: Neuvitale! - Video … Continue reading

Minnesota's Jerry Kill refuses to let epilepsy remove him from the sideline

Posted: Published on December 28th, 2012

"I have epilepsy," the boy said. "Do you think I'll ever have a girlfriend?" Kill paused for a moment, and looked around the room. It was one of many epilepsy questions Kill would face in 2012. It was perhaps the most poignant question, but not the toughest. The toughest would come months after the child raised his hand, well into the Gophers' season, after Kill had seizures during games and missed a half of football against Michigan State. Some of those questions would be asked to his face, and some behind his back. What does it feel like when you have a seizure? Is it the stress from coaching? Won't recruits be scared off? Isn't this too much of a distraction for the program? Might you die on the field? Are you fit to coach this team? Kill is still surprised by all of this. He had his first seizure 12 years ago. He's had many since. They are a part of his life. In fact, they are a reason for his life. One of his seizures brought him to the hospital, where doctors did tests and found out he had kidney cancer. If he didn't have the epilepsy, maybe … Continue reading

PolyU Researchers Develop Novel Treatment for People with Hemiplegic Arms

Posted: Published on December 28th, 2012

Researchers of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)'s Department of Rehabilitation Sciences have developed a novel treatment for people with hemiplegic arms because of stroke or unilateral cerebral palsy in order to speed up their recovery. Coined "Remind to move," the treatment requires the patients to wear a specially made sensory cueing wristwatch (SCW-V2), which is designed to provide pertinent sensory signals at a fixed interval. (PRWEB) December 26, 2012 The research was led by Dr Kenneth N. K. Fong, Associate Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, who indicated that one of the common problems with arm recovery after stroke or in children with cerebral palsy is the "learned non-use." With learned non-use, a portion of motor impairment of the patient is not resulted from the brain cell damage but from the learned suppression of the movement, and that makes an individual unable to move or develop the arm further. Dr Kenneth Fong therefore developed a sensory cueing wristwatch to promote the attention and overcome "non-use" of hemiplegic arm through sensory cueing (e.g. vibration) emitted by a portable ambulatory wristwatch device tied to the upper limb, thereby reminding the subject to move his/her arm as instructed by the therapist. … Continue reading

Researchers at Beth Israel Medical Center and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Discover New Genetic Basis …

Posted: Published on December 28th, 2012

NEW YORK, Dec. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Scientists from Beth Israel Medical Center and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have announced the discovery of a novel gene for primary torsion dystonia, a debilitating neurological disorder estimated to affect no fewer than 300,000 people in the US and Canada. Published online December 9 in Nature Genetics, the findings describe the GNAL gene, the first primary torsion dystonia gene that directly points to pathways in the brain's dopamine system as the origin of pathophysiology. Genetic study in two extensively studied dystonia families revealed mutations in GNAL. Further screening of 39 additional affected families identified another six mutations in this gene. The research unveils a new potential therapeutic target and thus an opportunity for developing new treatments. This discovery will also help development of genetic tests to confirm diagnosis, identify unaffected adult carriers, and provide greater reproductive health options for affected families. The discovery was made through the collaboration of a clinical research team of movement disorder specialists in the United States and Canada led by Susan Bressman, MD, Chair of the Mirken Department of Neurology at Beth Israel Medical Center and the work of the molecular genetic laboratory at the … Continue reading
