MILWAUKEE (AP) A white supremacist with a history of alcohol problems had no drugs in his system when he walked into a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee this summer and fatally shot six people before killing himself, according to a toxicology report released Wednesday. There were small amounts of alcohol in Wade Michael Page's heart, but because there was none in his bloodstream the alcohol may have been produced after Page's body tissues began breaking down, a Milwaukee County pathologist said. "It is impossible to tell if the ethyl alcohol level is due to alcohol ingestion or a product of decomposition," Agnieszka Rogalska said in an email. Page's sister had told investigators that in the year preceding the rampage, her brother developed a bloated appearance that made her wonder if he'd been drinking recently. She also said Page seemed to grow more intense over the past year, as if he had lost his wit and sense of humor, according to an investigative report. Page, 40, opened fire Aug. 5 before a service was to start at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in suburban Milwaukee. Older teens and adults with attention deficit disorder are much less likely to commit a crime while on ADHD medication, a provocative study from Sweden found. It also showed in dramatic fashion how much more prone people with ADHD are to break the law four to seven times more likely than others. The findings suggest that Ritalin, Adderall and other drugs that curb hyperactivity and boost attention remain important beyond the school-age years and that wider use of these medications in older patients might help curb crime. "There definitely is a perception that it's a disease of childhood and you outgrow your need for medicines," said Dr. William Cooper, a pediatrics and preventive medicine professor at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. "We're beginning to understand that ADHD is a condition for many people that really lasts throughout their life." He has researched ADHD but had no role in the new study, which was led by Paul Lichtenstein of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Pfizer officials should be sanctioned for denying they had a centralized filing system for Celebrex and Bextra files and discarding records after investors filed suit accusing the company of misleading them about the drugs prospects, shareholders attorneys said in a court filing that was unsealed Nov. 16 in federal court in Manhattan. Pfizer executives later acknowledged the company maintained more than 2,000 so-called e- Rooms that stored documents about the drugmakers products, the lawyers said. Defendants destroyed documents in bad faith and compounded their initial misconduct by making false statements about the existence of centralized databases, Jay Eisenhofer, a New York-based attorney serving as lead counsel in the investors securities-fraud suit, said in the filing.
