By Dahl Erickson on Apr 25, 2012 in Featured, News, Outdoors, Wyoming Area riders participating in the 2012 Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Hillclimb Association (RMSHA) completed their final event at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, Idaho over the weekend. Many used the last race to buoy their final points standings and in some cases catapulted them to a points championship. Luke Raineys first place finish in the Pro 700 Stock helped him also claim the points title in the same class for the season. Jay Mentaberry did the same in the Semi-Pro Stock division. Gavin Balls won the Semi-Pro Modified race which vaulted him to the points title in just his first year of competition. Hes one of many young riders who claimed numerous top ten finishes during the season in a growing movement in the valley. Every year it seems like its gotten bigger, said Hal Titensor, scheduled to serve as vice-president of RMSHA in 2013. There is more and more interest and we are also starting to produce some of the better riders in the circuit in our area. I honestly think we have a bigger percentage of people who are doing well than anyone else. This was no more … Continue reading

By Dahl Erickson on Apr 30, 2012 in Afton, Featured, Lincoln County, News, Wyoming The Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in a letter to Afton Mayor, Loni Hillyard, has requested a variance to the Afton Zoning Ordinance for property located at Hwy 89 and Skyview Lane. The letter confirms the future location of the Star Valley Temple which was discussed in the Independent two weeks ago. According to the request, Temples typically have a vertical spire placed above the main building structure as an architectural feature identifying a religious structure. The request proposes to develop a portion of the site and construct a temple. Currently, new buildings within the limits of the Town of Afton are held to a height of 35 feet for residential property and 40 feet for agricultural property. It is unknown what the final height of the Star Valley Temple would be at this time. Mayor Hillyard commented on the situation via telephone with the Independent. The actual temple is not too tall, it will just be the steeple, she said. Our flight path maximum is 45 feet so they are going through this variance process. I do not anticipate … Continue reading

by RAD BERKY / NewsChannel 36 Staff WCNC.com Posted on May 2, 2012 at 1:13 AM Updated today at 9:00 AM GASTONIA, N.C. -- A Gastonia family told NewsChannel 36 that a local pharmacy mixed up a prescription for their son, and the results could have been potentially deadly. The Rite Aid store on West Franklin Boulevard had been the pharmacy of choice for the Leigh family--until last Friday. "I was really mad. I had set myself up for jail time, to be honest with you, because I was really that mad," said Kelly Leigh Tuesday afternoon. Leigh said she was afraid for what might have happened to her son, Logan. Logan is a month shy of seven and suffers from a rare form of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. He takes shots of a drug called Embrel to help control it. But instead of a box of pre-dosed shots, when Leigh went into the Rite Aid last Friday, she said she was handed a box containing what appeared to be flex pens or eppy pens. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is said to have blacklisted 37 colleges in the State for making excess admissions in violation of the PCI norms and with the pretext that the AICTE has permitted them so. The PCI central council meeting held in New Delhi recently is said to have taken the decision as some colleges have admitted 200 students though the original sanctioned strength is only 60. As per the PCI norms, the maximum strength can go up to 100 if the colleges are more than four years old while it has to be 60 for colleges established in the last four years. K. Ramdass, general secretary of the A.P. Pharmacy Colleges Association, has said that PCI president B. Suresh will be meeting Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on May 9 along with the managements of pharmacy colleges to discuss the issue of excess admissions. He is also likely to discuss other issues with regard to pharmacy education in the State. The PCI and AICTE have been at loggerheads over the authority on pharmacy education in the country. While the PCI claims that it should decide on admissions and administrative aspects of pharmacy education, the AICTE maintains … Continue reading

Stendra Approved for Erectile Dysfunction

Posted: Published on April 29th, 2012

Stendra is marketed by Mountain View, CA-based VIVUS Inc. Erectile dysfunction is when a man has trouble getting or keeping an erection. An estimated 30 million men in the United States are affected by erectile dysfunction. Stendra is a pill that patients take on an as-needed basis 30 minutes before sexual activity. Doctors should prescribe the lowest dose of Stendra that provides benefit. "This approval expands the available treatment options to men experiencing erectile dysfunction, and enables patients, in consultation with their doctor, to choose the most appropriate treatment for their needs," said Victoria Kusiak, M.D., deputy director of the Office of Drug Evaluation III in the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Stendra belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which are used to help increase blood flow to the penis. As with other PDE5 inhibitors, Stendra should not be used by men who also take nitrates, commonly used to treat chest pain (angina), because the combination can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. PDE5 inhibitors may rarely cause color vision changes. In rare instances, men taking PDE5 inhibitors have reported a sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes. Sudden … Continue reading

Stendra, the brand name for avanafil, is taken in 50, 100 or 200 milligram doses 30 minutes before sexual activity.
