A reported shortage of hormone replacement therapy medication was an item under discussion on todays episode of Loose Women. But when Christine Lampard read aloud an official statement from the Department of Health, showregular Saira Khan to reached her wits' end with the issue.

Women in need of hormone replacement therapy to ameliorate severe symptoms of the menopause have faced supply issues for over a year.

There are now calls from doctors for the government to investigate why the shortages are still in effect.

In a letter to health secretary Matt Hancock,The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the British Menopause Society, and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare have detailed the length of time women have been struggling with the shortages.

There is now concern hormonal contraceptive supplies are also being affected by the shortages and the Loose Women panel decided to weigh in on the issue on ITV today.

Christine followed up, saying: One of those wishy-washy answers.

Saira then took a moment to compose herself, taking overly-dramatic deep breaths.

The British Menopause Society is regularly updating its website on the availability of HRT products and alternatives.

According to Dr Edward Morris, the president of the Royal College, it's believed the HRT supply should begin to pick up in February.
