The Aesthetic Surgery Center, one of the most respected cosmetic surgery centers in Florida, announced today the introduction of a new noninvasive injectable treatment called Restylane Silk. This treatment is designed to enhance the lips and also treats the lines that form around the mouth.

According to Dr. Anurag Agarwal, medical director of the Aesthetic Surgery Center, Restylane Silk is primarily used to treat the lines that form around the lips and the borders of the lips. Restylane Silk consists of a transparent gel that contains hyaluronic acid, which is a natural sugar found within the skin. It is injected using an ultra-fine needle specifically designed for Restylane Silk.

Usually patients receive an initial treatment followed by maintenance treatments three to six months later, said Dr. Agarwal. Some patients will have a two week follow-up treatment after the initial treatment to enhance the initial result.

Dr. Agarwal explained there is minimal downtime for Restylane Silk patients. Typical side effects include mild swelling and mild bruising, which can last from just two days to one week. Dr. Agarwal said Restylane Silk makes a great addition to the Aesthetic Surgery Centers growing platform of injectable and dermal filler treatments.

We have been performing lip injections with Restylane products and Juvederm injectable gel for many years, he explained. Restylane Silk is being offered primarily because of its indication for use in upper and lower lip lines.

Restylane Silk treatments are priced by the syringe. The Aesthetic Surgery Centers price for the treatment is $725 per syringe. Dr. Agarwal said it is a more costly facial filler than regular Restylane, which typically costs $600 per syringe.

While Restylane Silk was developed several years ago and was used in Europe and Canada, the FDA approved it for use in the United States on June 13, 2014. It was released for physicians to use this month. With its release, Dr. Agarwal said there are a growing number of physicians around the country that are offering Restylane Silk.

The Aesthetic Surgery Center specializes in contemporary approaches toward enhancing and restoring the body and the face. Their plastic surgeons specialize in such procedures as skin resurfacing, endoscopic facelifts, laser eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, hair restoration, Laserwash skin resurfacing, liposuction, body contouring, and breast enhancement, reduction, and reconstruction.
