Treating ALS with stem cell injections: A clinical trial
Dr. Eva Feldman, a neurologist, researcher and director of the A. Alfred Taubman Biomedical Research Institute at the University of Michigan, is the principal investigator for a landmark clinical trial involving patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig #39;s disease. The FDA-approved trial, which currently is in the safety phase, involves injecting hundreds of thousands of stem cells into the spinal cords of patients with ALS. As Dr. Feldman explains in this video, it is hoped that the stem cells will provide a healthier environment for the patients #39; own nerve cells, preserving function and improving quality of life.From:TaubmanInstituteViews:1785 16ratingsTime:11:32More inScience Technology
