Dr. Edwin Rivera Receives USAID Award

Dr. Edwin Rivera has received a three year, $151,097 award from the National Academy of Sciences (USAID) US-Egypt Joint Fund. The title of the project is: Porous-Organic Polymers for CO2 Capture Applications: Structure-Property Relationships through Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. Dr. Rivera is the American PI and Dr. Mohamed Alkordi is the Egyptian PI in Zewail City of Science and Technology in Cairo. Dr. Alkordi is one of our own graduates (from Dr. Mohammed Eddaudis lab in 2010).

Dr. Jacqueline Fries to Receive Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award

Dr. Jacqueline Fries (who graduated from Dr. Bill Bakers lab) has been selected to receive a 2016 Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award. The selection process is extremely competitive and the selection committee was very impressed with not only the theme of Dr. Fries research, but also the extent of her professional development. The award will be presented at the Scholars of Excellence event at USF, which is being planned for Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2 pm in the Marshall Center Ballroom.

Dr. Shengqian Ma, Highly Cited Researcher

Dr. Shengqian Ma has been selected again this year as a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher.

Dr. Woodcock to receive Excellence in Innovation Award

Dr. Lee Woodcock has been selected by USF Research & Innovation to receive the Excellence in Innovation Award for his development of CHARMMing (CHARMM interface and graphics). CHARMMing is used by researchers around the world as a graphical user interface to CHARMM (Chemistry at Harvard Molecular Mechanics). CHARMM is a molecular simulation program with broad application to chemistry and biology.
