DANIEL BELTON OFFERS UP A UNIQUE 360-DEGREE DOME CINEMA DANCE EXPERIENCE FOR 2 NIGHTS ONLY!

Tempo Dance Festival presents AXIS: Anatomy of Space Created by Daniel Belton and Good Company Arts as part of Matariki Festival 2017

NZ Arts Laureate Daniel Belton will take audiences on an immersive 360-degree dome cinema journey, thrilling the senses in his latest multi-media work AXIS: Anatomy of Space. Making its Auckland premiere on 21 and 22 June at the Stardome Observatory and Planetarium, this free Tempo Dance Festival satellite event offers a unique way to celebrate Matariki this winter.

Helmed by Daniel Belton, AXIS is a stunning dance film project showcasing dancers from the Royal New Zealand Ballet, contemporary choral music by Singapore composers Joyce Beetuan Koh and PerMagnus Lindborg, motion graphics by Jac Grenfell, and couture fashion from NZ designer Tanya Carlson. AXIS will draw audiences into a kaleidoscopic journey full of movement - charting space with planetary cartography, fashion design, contemporary dance and music - a unique and uplifting sensory experience.

The creator, Daniel Belton, is an internationally celebrated dance-film maker, choreographer and New Zealand Arts Laureate, whose body of work has been selected for more than 70 international dance and multi-media festivals. Beltons reputation for uniquely creative mixed media work has seen him create more than 30 critically-acclaimed dance performance pieces for site-specific, installation, opera, dance-theatre and digital spaces. At home, Belton has created new choreographic commissions for Aotearoas top dance institutions including Black Grace, The Royal New Zealand Ballet, and the Body Festival. Currently Belton is in Colombia with two works booked for the Festival de la Imagen.

Tempo Dance Festival has programmed this spellbinding film event as part of their satellite presentations in the lead up to the 2017 Festival - which showcases an engrossing cross-section of dance works from 5-15 October in Auckland. A taste of some of the striking dance works selected for this years festival will be announced at AXIS on 22 June.
