The Cardiac Surgery Program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center is one of the most respected in New Jersey, and the region. As the only hospital in Monmouth and Ocean counties licensed to perform open heart surgery, Jersey Shore performs more than 850 heart surgeries a year, while maintaining outstanding outcomes that rival the nations best. In fact, Jersey Shore has been recognized by various organizations over the years for its superior outcomes:

Jersey Shore is one of 19 participating hospitals (out of 1,024) in the nation to receive 3-star ratings from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) in Coronary Artery Bypass Graph (CABG) surgery as well as CABG + Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR) surgery. This ratings is based on data from July 2015 June 2016. This is a recognition held by the top 2 percent of participating hospitals in the nation.

Jersey Shore is also a recipient of the Healthgrades 2017 Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award for 11 years in a row (2007-2017) for its superior outcomes in heart bypass surgery and heart valve surgery.

Jersey Shore was recognized as a high-performing hospital by U.S. News & World Report in all three of its Adult Common Procedure ratings for cardiac surgery, including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, heart bypass surgery, and aortic valve surgery.

Jersey Shore was rated as one of the nations top heart hospitals in Consumer Reports May 2017 Special Report on Heart Health based on its surgery success rates. Hospitals that were rated were those that shared data with Consumer Reports and performed well in heart bypass and aortic valve replacement, in terms of complications, mortality, and other factors.
