That didn't take long.

Four episodes into Grey's Anatomy's 11th season, the ABC medical drama has promoted Kelly McCreary to series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

McCreary has been recurring since the season 10 finale as Dr. Maggie Pierce Meredith's half-sister and the love child of Ellis and Richard (James Pickens Jr.). The bulk of the first half of season 11 has focused on Maggie's journey from Boston to Seattle on a quest to learn more about her biological mother. The result has been meeting her biological father and testy half-sister, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), who most recently came to accept Maggie as family.

"I really love playing Maggie, I think she's so much fun. I've been given some really great material and I'm really enjoying exploring her relationships," McCreary told THR during a visit to the Grey's set this week. "There's a lot to play out. I would like to see her stay as long as it takes for all of those relationships to run their course; whether it's another couple episodes or seasons, it's in the hands of the writers and I trust them completely."

As for her biggest burning question about Maggie about whom the audience still knows very little McCreary says she wants to know "if she is going to date anyone, just like anyone else!" "I don't think there's anybody in the hospital who's really her person or partner; they'd have to bring somebody in from outside!"

Repped by Soffer/Namoff Entertainment, the Kohner Agency and Stewart Talent, McCreary's credits include two episodes of Shonda Rhimes' Scandal, The CW's Emily Owens, M.D., and White Collar.
