Salty food items

One of the first pieces of advice for lowering BP would be how one should eat lesser salty food as high sodium food items are one of the major causes of high blood pressure. The sodium in the salt affects the kidney's ability to get rid of extra fluids from the body. The extra fluids can cause BP levels to go up. One should ideally stay away from processed food items especially as they are loaded with salt. So, avoid having foodstuffs such as bacon, prawn, ham, salted nuts, pickles, soy sauce, and other processed foods among others. Ideally, one should not have more than a teaspoon of salt every day.

Sugary food items

Did you know one of the causes of high BP is also obesity? and unwanted sugar intake has been linked to weight gain. So, try and avoid table sugar as they are empty calories and hardly have any nutritional value. Instead of sugar one can go for substitutes such as stevia among others.

Saturated fat lade food items

Food items such as butter, lard, cream, sausages, and fatty meat are packed with saturated fats and they same are extremely harmful to the body as they increase low-density lipoproteins (LDL) aka bad cholesterol and the same affect blood pressure level.

Too much alcohol consumption

For the uninitiated, excessive alcohol consumption is one of the causes of high blood pressure. If you think wine, which is touted as one of the healthy alcohol, is also not good for high BP patients.

Bottom line

As mentioned above, try and avoid these food groups if you are a hypertension patient and soon you will see a drop in the BP levels.
