Holby Citys ice queen Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel) might be falling a tiny bit in love with Kian Madani (Ramin Karimloo)! She just about admitted as much to her best friend Sacha (Bob Barrett) as they had one of their chats on the stairs.

Earlier wed seen Jac and Kian taking full romantic advantage of the on-call room and almost being caught red-handed by Chloe (Amy Lennox).

Professionally, too, they were presenting a united front as Jac discovered evidence that Kestrel, the nasty company whod been Darwin to the cardiac services contract, were doing poor-quality heart surgery on people. They decided they would talk to Max (Jo Martin) together.

The course of true love or even true like never runs smoothly for long on Holby. In this case Kian was about to be derailed by the appearance of a patient who brought all sorts of emotional baggage with him.

Phoenix (Joshua Glenister) had a heart condition which hed inherited from his mum, Bea Kaminsky. You remember Bea the woman Kian got all unprofessional about when he fell in love with her, and whose death devastated him.

Kian told Phoenix that he and Bea had been an item. He didnt think he should do Phoenixs operation, but the young man insisted.

In theatre Kian was obviously distracted and upset and got Nicky (Belinda Owusu) to do most of the work.

The operation eventually went well, but afterwards Nicky told Phoenix that Kian had operated on Bea while he was suspended, and also mentioned Kians wife Vanessa. Phoenix was angry and upset.

Jac was also angry and upset as Kian had failed to show up to assist her in theatre and so wasnt there when she found a smoking gun in the form of a very old and dodgy stent that Kestrel had placed in her patient.

She was forced to take this to Max on her own but Max wasnt helpful at all. Jac does have an ally in the form of Hanssen (Guy Henry), who advised her to build a case against Kestrel.

And where that leaves the Kian/Jac romance is anyones guess, as he drove off in a distracted state while Jac waited in Pulses for what was supposed to have been their first date (the date wasnt in Pulses, that was just the meeting point). Hes going to have quite a lot of explaining to do.

Louis (Tyler Luke Cunningham) had a bit of a mixed start to his Holby nursing career. When Donna (Jaye Jacobs) heard that he was Maxs son, she assumed that he must be the brother of Lily the daughter Max had told her was dead.

This naturally upset Louis, who later on vented his frustration at a patient who was having a go at Donna being sour-faced. Ric (Hugh Quarshie) wasnt happy at that behaviour and had a word with him but Ric has now taking Louis under his wing a bit.

And later on Louis discovered that hes now listed in Maxs phone as Louis rather than Lily, so it seems that shes beginning to accept him. And as a nurse hes absolutely lovely.

Talking of nurses, what news of Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw) and Essie (Kaye Wragg)?

Essie had a better week, and Fletch has got a date for his surgery. Its next week, but the worrying news is its at The Mythical St Jamess rather than The Actual Holby.

Sacha tried to be supportive of Fletch by giving him a tie that was an absolute classic of Sacha Levy bad taste so much so that Sacha had the same one himself so there was lots of tie-based banter to lighten the proceedings.
