Indiana 7-year-old meets Blake Shelton thanks to Kids Wish Network – WLWT Cincinnati

A first-grader from Paoli, Indiana, received a surprise of a lifetime thanks to Kids Wish Network.Colton Harkness was born at just 23 weeks, weighing less than 2 pounds. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and uses a walker to get around."One of his wishes was when he grows up he wants to be a policeman. So, we got together and decided to give him some things from the department," said Sheriff Josh Babcock.In November, Colton was named an honorary deputy of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.But the surprises didn't stop there. Colton also flew to California to meet country music star Blake Shelton and go to Disneyworld. Colton's parents said he loves to listen to Blake Shelton and watching "The Voice." Colton and his family received celebrity treatment and were chauffeured in a limo to the set of "The Voice." There, Colton and his family got to enjoy VIP status, which included seats close to the stage and the chance to meet two of their favorite contestants, Rose Short and Jake Hoot.At the end of the show, Colton was invited up to the judge's panel to meet Shelton.Me and Blake are friends now! said Colton. Colton gave Shelton a Kids Wish Network Wish Granter hat to show him his appreciation. He also got to meet Gwen Stefani and John Legend.My favorite part was seeing Colton get so excited meeting Blake Shelton, said Kelsey Harkness, Colton's mom.We appreciate Mr. Shelton taking the time to meet Colton, and hope he was equally inspired by his biggest fan, said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.To learn more about Kids Wish Network, click here.
