Long wait is over, finally a road to Kannans house – Mathrubhumi English

Kochi: Cerebral palsy affected Kannan, aka KR Aravind had been waiting for a proper road to his house ever since. 12-year-old Kannan who is also suffering from autism, till date had been piggybacking on his father Rajasekharans shoulders while on the way to school and hospital.

The narrow road to Rajasekharans house in Pangarappilly near Mulanthuruthi was on the banks of a canal. Now, the panchayat had intervened in the matter and started forest clearing activities in the nearby puramboke plot on Thursday.

According to panchayat officials, the approval for roadwork to the house was obtained in March but was delayed due to lockdown.

At present the way to the house is too narrow and will be waterlogged in rain.

Kannan is a pre-primary student at Snehabhavan Special School in Piravom. Rajasekharan was a painter and had also sold lotteries for a living. Since Kannan could fall sick at any time, he cant go for work daily and at faraway places leading to a financial crisis. Last month, Kannan was admitted to the ICU for three days after suffering from epilepsy. His medical expenses are taken care of by the welfare fund for the specially abled.

Rajasekhran, his wife Nisha, Kannan and 5-year-old daughter are staying in a dilapidated house that could collapse anytime.
