Middletowns Buttonwood Tree offers weekly entertainment

MIDDLETOWN The Buttonwood Tree, 605 Main St., is offering a variety of events and concerts. Tickets are required for most events; reservations are encouraged. For information, visit buttonwood.org or call 860-347-4957.

Jan. 18-March 14: All the Write Ways: A Workshop for Self-Expression, $70 per person, eight weeks. No meeting Feb. 15, led by writer Briana Una McGuckin. To reserve a spot, call: (860)347-4957 or e-mail: thebuttonwoodtree@gmail.com.

McGuckin has been published online in The New York Times, The Arcanist and Breath & Shadow. She writes gothic fiction and fantasy. Jan. 17: Restless Mountain Bluegrass Band, 8 p.m., $15. Restless Mountain Bluegrass Band always offers a fun mix of traditional standards and entertaining classics that bring fond memories and a smile. In the tradition of bluegrass, Restless Mountain is an all-acoustic band, serving up heartfelt vocals and spicy instrumentals. Featuring Matt Fleury on vocals and banjo, Jerry Devokaitis on vocals and guitar, Dave Orlomoski on vocals and mandolin, Scott Camara on dobro, and Dave Aston on bass.

Jan. 18: Seat of Our Pants, contemporary acoustic, 8 p.m., $15. Featuring Mark Hall on lead vocals and cajon, Michael Frantzen on fiddle, Jeff Gorman on bass, and Carolyn Brodginski on lead vocals.

Jan. 24: Andrew Wilcox Trio, modern jazz group, 8 p.m., $10. Wilcoxs eclectic influences has pushed his music forward as he follows in the footsteps of progressive jazz musicians of the past. Featuring Wilcox on piano, Joshua Leslie on drums and Conway Campbell Jr. on bass.

Jan. 31, Anne Marie Menta Band, 8 p.m., $15. Menta hails from New Haven, where she has been a long time favorite singer/songwriter. She songs range stylistically from contemporary folk tunes to acoustic pop/ country influenced songs, all featuring her warm vocals and guitar.
