AURORA, Colo. - An investigation into a large auto theft ring believed to be responsible for several crimes throughout the state resulted in the arrest of one man and the seizure of drugs and stolen guns. The East Metro Auto Theft Team searched a building at 5545 Pecos Street in Adams County Monday. According to a press release posted to Facebook by Aurora Police Department spokeswoman Cassidee Carlson, they found drugs and more than 30 firearms. Many of the firearms had been reported stolen and many of the others are believed to be stolen. Carlson wrote that the weapons may not have been reported as stolen because the victims may not have the serial numbers. One person, Robert Muniz, was arrested and held on an outstanding warrant. The auto theft ring is said to involve several people, including known methamphetamine users. They are believed to be involved in several crimes throughout Colorado and police believe there are additional victims and witnesses for them to interview. Lieutenant Oscar Trevino said they received numerous calls about the home. He said residents who live on South 34th street had had enough. Martin Varca has lived on the street for over two decades. He said ever since the family who live across the street moved inthe tone of the neighborhood changed. "They never bothered me, but I would always see vehicles come and go from that home, Varca said. The lady next door posted a sign because people would always go to her house for drugs instead of the one next door."
