The doctors of the department of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh have saved the life of a 15 year old girl by performing a complex surgery on her.

Dr Aneesh Gupta of department of CTVS said that the girl had a congenital hole in her heart and a lung vein of her had contracted. A valve in her heart was also underdeveloped since birth. In medical science, it is called Tatrology of Fellows with Absent Pulmonary Valves. In this disease, respiratory artery is obstructed as soon as many children are born. In such a situation there was no other option but to operate it, he said. A team of doctors led by Dr Gupta successfully completed the complex surgical procedure. In the process, the doctors not only closed the hole in the heart but also enlarged the lung path and replaced the pulmonary valve. She was discharged from the hospital a few days after the operation. The Director AIIMS-Rishikesh Professor Ravikant appreciated the team of CTVS and Cardiology Department of the institute for the unique feat.
