When Dr. Rajesh Rajan chose cardiology as his field of study, he wanted to explore the numerous possibilities for heart patients around the world for better healthcare. Little did he know that he was embarking on a journey that would lead to ground-breaking research and a subsequent tool that would simplify the compilations of heart disease detention eventually.

Global recognitionDr. Rajan is India-born cardiologist based in Kuwait with many prestigious fellowships from organizations, such as the Royal College of Physicians London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ireland, European Society of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology including a Premier Golden Heart Fellowship by American Heart Association.

Dr. Rajan went on to invent heart failure risk score, which helps clinicians estimate the risk in patients diagnosed with Heart Failure with reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF). In 2019, Dr. Rajan proposed a new modified version of Liptons classification for single coronary artery (SCA) which was later called Rajans and Kotevski TYPE-IV (R-IV-C) modified Liptons classification.

With more than a decades experience in general cardiology, Dr. Rajan has continued to study cardiorenal anemia syndrome. His research has led to the development of some useful clinical research registries in heart failure.

Active service to medical fraternity and academicsDr. Rajan is also the Founder President and Chairman Board of Governors of the Indian Association of Clinical Cardiologists, representing the country's clinical cardiologists to the federal government and providing commentaries on the role of cardiology in current events. He has also participated in the Indo-Soviet Cardiology Research Project of KIMS Hospital and RUDN University.

Apart from his medical career, Dr. Rajan is also an accomplished academician. He graduated in Medicine from RUDN University and completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Surgery from Bakulev Scientific Center of Cardiovascular Surgery. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Cardiology from Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences and a Ph. D in cardiology from RUDN University.

Dr. Rajesh Rajan's extensive knowledge, expertise, and experience have made him a highly respected and sought-after cardiologist. He is presently working at Sabah Al-Ahmad Cardiac Center, Al-Amiri Hospital.

Academic lifeApart from speaking at various medical fraternity platforms in Kuwait, he has spoken in several other countries such as India, Egypt, Turkey, UAE, India, Russia, etc, apart from being featured in noted publications including Arab Times, The Times of India, The Hindu, The Indian Express among others. In 2017, he was appointed Supervisor of Undergraduate Medical Research Programme (SSS) of Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland as well as for Undergraduate Medical Clinical Placement Programme (PY2CP) of University of Reading, United Kingdom. The same year, Dr. Rajan worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Medical Institute, RUDN University in Moscow, Russia. In 2019, Dr. Rajan was appointed Head of Research Wing at the Department of Cardiology at Sabah Al Ahmad Cardiac Center.

PhilanthropyDr. Rajan has been closely involved in several philanthropic activities individually as well as with the Rotary Club including projects related to disaster recovery; Health, Hunger, and Humanity (3H) grants, PolioPlus etc. He regularly holds health camps and health programmes to raise awareness about heart health.

PublicationsWhile Dr. Rajans papers have been published in various medical journals, in March 2023, one of his long-time dreams came true when his invention, the Rajans Heart Failure (R-HF) Risk Score, got published in one of the worlds most renowned cardiology journals, The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, with an impact factor of 24.

Dr. Rajesh Rajan is the founder and managing editor of the reputed Journal by Wolters Kluwer, "Annals of Clinical Cardiology" the official publication of the Indian Association of Clinical Cardiologists.

In addition to his current role, he also serves as the President of two prominent organizations, namely, the Association For Promotion Of Education and Culture (APEC), Kuwait and the Association of MD Physicians (AMD).
