The Valley Hospital has been awarded Transcatheter Valve Certification from The American College of Cardiology (ACC) for its demonstrated expertise and commitment to treating patients receiving transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures. This award was given based on the evaluation of Valleys ability to meet standards for multidisciplinary teams, formalized training, shared decision-making, and registry performance.

The ACCs Transcatheter Valve Certification is an external review and certification process that pairs with established national clinical databases to monitor patient safety and real-world outcomes related to transcatheter valve therapies. Participation in established national clinical databases such as the STS/ACC TVT Registry is required for hospitals interested in achieving Transcatheter Valve Certification.

We are honored to receive this prestigious certification from the ACC. Our structural heart team provides each patient with individualized care, using leading-edge, minimally invasive treatment modalities, including transcatheter aortic valve repair (TAVR) and transcatheter-edge-to-edge repair (TEER) procedures, said Rajiv Tayal, MD, MPH, Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Structural Heart Program, The Valley Hospital. In addition to this compassionate care, our teams are regularly reviewing performance metrics and using this data to help guide our clinical decision making.

At The Valley Heart and Vascular Institute, our team of specialists, which includes structural interventionalists, structural heart specialists, interventional cardiologists, general cardiologists, radiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and advanced practice nurses, prides themselves on collaboration and achieving the highest quality outcomes, said Gerald Sotsky, MD, Chair, Cardiac Services, Valley Medical Group, and Director, Cardiovascular Service Line, The Valley Hospital. This certification is a testament to their collaborative efforts.

The certification uses established national clinical measures to support clinical decisions and links process improvement to patient outcomes. Hospitals that achieve Transcatheter Valve Certification learn best practices for implementing evidence-based medicine to support patient-centered decision-making and can track key performance metrics to better identify opportunities for improvement.

The Valley Hospital has demonstrated its commitment to providing northern New Jersey with excellent heart care, said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award The Valley Hospital with Transcatheter Valve Certification.

The ACC offers United States and international hospitals, like The Valley Hospital, access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. These services are focused on all aspects of cardiac care, including transcatheter valve therapies.
