Congressional candidate Ronny Jackson will appear Saturday morning in Wichita Falls to speak to local veterans, according to a media release.

The public is invited to hear Jackson speak to veterans at 11 a.m. Saturday at P's Crazy Car Museum at 1602 Midwestern Parkway.

Jackson, formerly White House physician to President Donald Trump,is running in the March 3 Republican Primary for the 13th Congressional District seat.

Jackson retired Dec. 1 as a rear admiral after 24 years of active-duty service inthe Navy. Hisroots are in the Lone Star State where he has returned to live in Amarillo.

Jackson is one of 15 Republicans and three Democrats running in March 3 primaries for the seat now held by U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Clarendon. Thornberry is retiring from Congress in January 2021.

Born in Levelland, Texas, Jackson has worked full-time since he was 14 years old, according to his campaign bio.

He worked at a local grocery store and then a roustabout in the oil field, paying for his undergraduate education while serving as a volunteer firefighter, according to his bio.

Jackson graduated from Texas A&M University at Galveston and served in the Navy Reserves while attendingmedical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch, according to his bio.

After graduating from medical school in 1995, he began his active-duty Navy career, according to his bio.

He was an honor graduate of the Navy's Undersea Medical Officer Program anda fully qualified Navy deep-sea diver trained in hyperbaric and submarine medicine, according to the bio.

He later graduated at the top of his class as an honor graduate from a residency in emergency medicine, according to the bio.

In 2005, he was assigned to the Marine Corps, joining the 2nd Marines, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, in Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, according to the bio.

Then Jackson deployed as the emergency medicine physician in charge of resuscitative medicine for a combat surgical shock trauma platoon in Taqaddum, Iraq, according to the bio. The area was one of the most violently contested regions of Iraq.

While still serving in Iraq, Jacksonwas selected as a White House physician in 2006 during the President George W. Bush administration.

He served three administrations atthe White House over the next 14 years in positions with increasing levels of responsibility, according to the bio.

Jacksondirected executive health care for the president's cabinet and senior staff, served as physician supervisor for the Camp David Presidential Retreat, was physician to the White House and commanding officer of the White House Medical Unit, according to the bio.

Trump nominated him in March 2018 for Veterans Administration secretary although Jackson later withdrew his name after some controversy arose, according to a previous Times Record News story.

Trump appointed Jackson in January 2019 to be assistant to the president and to the newly created role of chief medical adviser to the White House and to the Executive Office of the President, according to the bio.

He has been recognized withawards including the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal four awards, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal three awards, as well as other honors, according to the bio.

Jackson has been married to wife Jane 27 years, according to the bio. They have a daughter and two sons.

Daughter Libby has a master's of business administration and works in Virginia, son Ben is a Naval Academy graduate and Navy SEAL, according to the bio. And son Matthew is a junior in high school hoping to attend the Naval Academy and become a fighter pilot.
